Florence Spalding Glover, West Scranton, formerly of the Green Ridge section of Scranton, passed away Wednesday morning. She was the wife of Robert V. Glover Jr., who passed away in 1987.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Irving A. and Meta G. Spalding. She was a graduate of Scranton Central High School and American University in Washington, D.C. She pursued a degree in business and fashion merchandising and then met and married a handsome Marine in 1944.

Florence was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, taught Sunday school and was a member of Covenant women. She was active in Girl Scouting for many years as a troop leader and served on the board of the Scranton Pocono Girl Scout Council and the Junior Century Club. She loved spending high school and college summers in Ocean Grove, N.J., and carried on to memorable summers with her family in Ocean City, N.J., shopping, walking the boards and people watching.

Florence’s family would like to thank those who loved and cared for her at Green Ridge Health Care Center and Celtic Hospice.

Florence’s family includes her daughters, Janis G. Reynolds and husband, John, of Madison, Tenn.; Joan L. Glover of Bethlehem; and son, Gary T. Glover of Scranton; her grandchildren, Virginia E. Reynolds of Nashville, Tenn.; Sara Frederick and husband, Andrew, of Nashville, Tenn.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Irving A. “Ace” Spalding, in 2014.

Funeral services will be conducted:
Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in Covenant Presbyterian Church, 550 Madison Ave., Scranton, Pa.

Friends will be received on:
Saturday from 10 until 11:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment will follow the service in Abington Hills Cemetery, South Abington Twp., Pa. Interment will be conducted privately.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to:
Covenant Presbyterian Church or the donor’s choice.
