Donald R. Simons

Donald R. Simons, 94, of Scranton went to be with the Lord Friday morning. He is survived by his loving wife, Georgia M. LaValle Simons.

Born May 7, 1923, in Scranton, he was the son of the late Ray and Minnie Rose Simons. Donald was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and the Powell School of Business. He was a graduate of the Wharton School of Finance. Donald was an Army veteran, serving as a radar technician during World War II.

Before his retirement, Donald was employed as sales manager with Eureka Security Printing Company.
Donald was a member of the Providence United Presbyterian Church, having served as a church elder and trustee. He was also a member of American Legion Post # 908 of Scranton.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his son, Glenn R. Simons and Christina Brzezinski, of Lawrenceville, Ga.; stepchildren, Kim LaValle and Kevin LaValle; grandson, Christopher Simons, of Colorado; and granddaughter, Erica Horn and husband, Ron; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Ron III, Emma Lynn, of Lilburn, Ga.; stepdaughter, Delene Walker Burt and husband, Tom, of Dalton, N.Y.; Paul and Harry Gill MD and son, Oleon Ray Gill.

Donald was preceded in death by Jane Eaton Simons and Marlene Rhodes Stecher Simons.

Funeral services will be conducted:
Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Howard J. Snowdon Funeral Home, 1810 Sanderson Ave., Scranton, Pa., with the Rev. Paul Walker as officiating clergy.

Military honors will follow the services.

Interment will be conducted at Forest Hill Cemetery – Dunmore, Pa.
